The 1988 Yellowstone fire was an awesome display of nature's fury. The devastation was something not experienced in America for quite some time. Yet fire can be part of the natural process which recycles nutrients back into the ecosystem and provides for the regeneration of vegetation.

In Kevin Daniel's award winning "Consequence of Fire", the stark reality of the cataclysmic firestorm was depicted. Daniel's "Consequence of Time" revisits the area one year later and portrays the rebirth of the forest.

This scan does not show the subtle colors of the red-rust fungi slowly decomposing the fallen lodge pole pines, the green foliage of the unburned forest on the distant hill, or the rich reddish brown coats of the elk as they prepare for the coming winter.
