The chilly conditions of winter began only days ago in this forest, with rushing water as the only sound heard for miles. This large buck and 2 does venture across the forest in search of vegetation. As an early winter storm intensifies, their progress is delayed. Then suddenly a branch cracks and the beautiful "Winter Silence" is broken. They stop for only a moment and look, hoping to discover what caused the disturbance.
This scan does not show the rich brown coats of the deer or the browns of the snow covered rocks and streambed.
