Ambush at Cerrito Mata Ortiz by Guy Manning

Ambush at Cerrito Mata Ortiz
by Guy Manning
This rare original stone lithograph is the creation of one of the best known Western artists in this country, Guy Manning.  Printed using the same techniques as the Great Masters of stone lithography: Picasso, Homer, Renoir, Matisse and Chagall, this image is a vibrant 35 color original stone lithograph. This scan does no justice at all to the vivid colors in this lithograph.

Notice the movement, the action in this image! The dust billowing up behind the horses as these Apache warriors rein in their ponies and prepare themselves for the "Ambush at Cerrito Mata Ortiz", an old Spanish citadel, now in ruins. While 2 of them are engrossed in finding good cover for the ambush, one of the warriors is already dismounting, before his pony has even stopped! While the others are still approaching this scene of future battle. The sky is clear. It is a good day to die.

Each color is individually hand printed on the etched stone slab which takes months of hard and tedious labor. The edition of 150 s/n lithographic prints have been sold out for years. Touch the Wild Gallery has just 1 of these rare prints in its inventory and will close it out at a tremendous savings to the lucky purchaser.
